There are a number of elements fighting against fishermen in search of the trophy catch. Any given day on the water we are forced to battle wind, shifting currents, and a boat full of eager anglers. It has been a lifelong goal of mine to achieve the element of surprise and land the fish that will allow bragging rights for decades. Nothing is more painful than coming up on a spot with tons of action and scaring all the fish off as the shackles on your galvanized steel anchor clank against the side of your boat. At that point, you know it isn’t even worth it to wet a line because the fish tails no longer break the surface and the water boils are gone. (more…)
