If you have been dreaming of competing with the big boys for serious prizes, this is the place to do it.

Hosted by the Inshore Fishing Association, this is the longest running redfish tournament in the country. Many of the sport fishermen who take part in this tournament love the fact that the entry fee is affordable, the prizes are great and the tournament is a one-day event. This makes it an easy choice for the fisherman who is looking to break into tournament fishing or the seasoned tournament fisherman.

The Tour Itself

The Redfish Tour changes up every year, with different locations to keep things fresh, and of course, based on interest by the anglers in a given area. Every good redfish angler keeps a close watch on where the upcoming tour locations will be. The 2013 tour looks like this:

Placida, FL – March 16/17 (Florida West Coast Division)

Port Aransas, TX – April 13/14 (Texas Division)

Jacksonville, FL – April 27/28 (Florida East Coast Division)

Empire, LA – May 18/19 (Louisiana Division)

Charleston, SC – June 8/9 (Atlantic Division)

Titusville, FL – June 29/30 (Florida East Coast Division)

Savannah, GA – August 3/4 (Atlantic Division)

Grand Isle, LA – August 24/25 (Louisiana Division)

Aransas Pass, TX – September 7/8 (Texas Division)

Ruskin, FL – September 14/15 (Florida West Coast Division)

Houma, LA Oct 24/25 Championship 2013

The Tools for the Redfish Tour

When it comes to playing with the big boys, it makes sense to have the same kind of quality equipment that they use. Many of the sponsors of the IFA are top names in fishing gear that you will see in use during the Redfish Tour. One of my favorites is Power-Pole shallow water anchors. These high-tech anchors can be found in most of the best fishermen’s boats in this tournament, because there is nothing better for quickly and accurately stopping your boat in that perfect spot. Get it and step up your redfish fishing.

See how you measure up to the big boys by joining the Redfish Tour this year!
